a black tie affair :: mary + dave

Once and while we plan a wedding where we just can't choose which pictures to post. This one, is one of those weddings. The people, the decor, the venue, the music, the Bride and Groom ... this wedding was crazy fun! So, our apologies for the insane amount of pictures. End of disclaimer. You were warned.

Mary + Mary (mom and daughter), met with me at The Hunt Club in Fairfield, CT in April of 2012 to chat about Mary's wedding to Dave. Their plan was to have the celebration at the club. Mary Jr. had a vision of a an elegant, formal, tented affair with creams, golds and crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. This was going to be the black tie event of the season! A few months of planning in - I get a a not so happy phone call from Mary Sr. explaining the club would be under construction and they couldn't promise the grounds would be ready in time for Mary's upcoming June 2013 wedding. What's a planner to do but find the exact vision at another venue - and I just happen to know the PERFECT SPOT! Enter The Biltmore at the Westchester Country Club.

From the moment we drove down the long driveway flanked with dogwoods and surrounded by the pristine greens of an 18 hole golf course, I knew there was no need to look at other venues. This was the perfect match of timeless old world charm for the black tie wedding Mary Jr. dreamed of! Walking into this venue was going back in time when dark oak, high ceilings and grandiose chandeliers were the epitome of elegance. And the after party? Well that would be held in the cigar room, cloaked in dark wood and red leather of course! Sitting in that cigar room made you feel as if Frank Sinatra would enter any minute to sip on a brandy. Now don't be fooled with all this "old world style" I'm babbling on about, there was NOTHING stuffy about this wedding. AT. ALL. This wedding was crazy fun!
