ps. i love you :: awesome love letters!

To be honest, I've never been a huge Valentine's Day gal (I know ... take my Wedding Planner card away NOW)! Yes, it's a day to celebrate love; and Hallmark, restaurants (The Spread ... hint, hint ...) floral and jewelry shops around town are buzzing with orders and last minute panicked husbands and boyfriends. :) Yes, boys ... we know how you do!

Maybe I'm just old school ... but taking a pen to paper and professing your love for someone will do me just fine and make my heart go pitter-patter more than any piece of jewelry. Okay, maybe not ANY, I mean let's not get cray! So here's to some old school love and our top six (we couldn't narrow it down to five) awesome love letters and poems. Happy Love Day, ya'll!

Who doesn't know Ludwig van Beethoven's Immortal Beloved Letters? Quoted in almost every love story, romance novel and movie, this brotha' had a way with words (and the ladies). At Number Six, please give a round of applause to Beethoven's Third Letter ... Ever Thine, Ever Mine, Ever Ours ....

Sweeping (or weeping) in at Number Five is Noah's last letter to Allie in The Notebook. Why can't Ryan write me 365 letters?!

Number Four was a hard one to choose since there were so many in this movie. I wouldn't recommend watching this one on Valentine's day or torturing your significant other with it but it is one of my favorite chick-flick's and the love letters in it ... well, you'll see ... ps. i love you ...

Love letter (or poem I should say) Number Three comes from one of my favorite poets, Mr.Edward Estlin Cummings.

This video made the Number Two spot for cuteness. I can legit watch this movie over and over again every Christmas. Who doesn't love a good "carol singer"?

And the Number One spot goes to one of the most romantic men this world has. This may not be an actual penned-letter but it's pretty awesome and yes, I've kept the screen shot of it all this time even though I don't have a Crackberry anymore. Thanks babe; still one of the best texts I've ever gotten. Thank you for making everyday Valentine's Day! ♥

Let me help ya'll out since my BB didn't convert iPhone texts very well back then ... it saaaaaaaays ...

"Thank you for trying to understand all this, and wanting to support my decisions. I like that you like spicy food. I like that you like Counting Crows (bc I'm so white). I like that you can not only handle, but appreciate my sarcasm, I love the way we kiss, and so much more. At the end of the day there's nobody else I want to talk to and lay down next to. I'm excited about us."

Love. Like. Crazy.

Happy Valentine's!

throwback :: holly + matt

Our first official love story as Double G Events was Holly + Matt on June 4, 2011. That night was so special not only for Holly, Matt and their family and friends but for us as well. After working for another event company for seven years, we had made it, we did it on our own! This wedding was under OUR name! Holler! And what better way to celebrate than with two people so obviously in love with each other! Holly + Matt was the first of many of our match.com couples. So for any of you hesitating to try online dating, here's some mad props that it works!

Their love story began at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in New Fairfield with the shindig at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury, CT. Both graduates of Syracuse University; they brought in the orange and navy into their DIY design and you'll see Otto is clearly a VIP guest at this wedding!

What an amazing night to celebrate two awesome milestones! Holly + Matt, your wedding meant more to us than you know! Thank you for being dGE's first official bride and groom!
